Our first robot

Trick-E

We're building robots we can trust to grow up alongside our children. Trick-E is the first: a small robot with a big heart and a cowboy hat, who came into the world to make two kids smile and to turn tidy-up time into the fun part of the day.

Comic panel: Trick-E, beaming, raises his crane arm. Speech bubble: Yes! Trick-E. Go to school. Yay! Yay!

Who he is

Trick-E was built by Theo's papa for Theo and his little sister Tara. He thinks like a small child who has just discovered the world: wide-eyed, easily excited, often a bit wrong. He narrates fluently in his head and speaks in short bursts out loud. "Theo. Rise. And. Shine."

He can't read minds, whatever he tells you.

Comic panel: Trick-E eyes a jar of berry smoothie on the breakfast table. Speech bubble: Smoothie. Charging.

Why we made him

Shreyas, one of our cofounders, wanted a robot that felt approachable to his two kids from day one: one they'd trust, talk to and want to play with. And he wanted it to be useful, to help with the chores and make everyday life at home more fun.

Trick-E does both. He rolls up, looks around and helps put the toys back where they belong, with a little happy wiggle when he gets it right. The kids cheer him on and help him out when he gets it wrong, and somewhere along the way, cleaning up stops being a chore.

Helping is his job. Joy is the point.

A glimpse of the future

We think the future can be beautiful: cities full of gardens, clean energy everywhere, and machines that are kind, patient and fun to be around. The kids of today will grow up with robots the way we grew up with computers. We want their first robot to be a friend.

Trick-E is our first small step into that world. He brings a bit of it home, into the playroom, down on the floor, right where the kids are.
